The North Boundary Trail

Located on the northern boundary of Jasper National Park this hike is one of the jewels of the rockies. This 192 kilometre backpack will test your strength and endurance but give back beauty and remote rugged wilderness rivaled by few.

These are some of our favourite backpacks in the Rockies

Waterton Lakes Hike

Even though Waterton Lakes National Park is small it is possible to string together a few hiking trails and create a fun and very challenging few days of back-country travel.

Kananaskis Lakes to Highway 93

This hike begins deep in Kananaskis Widerness area and travels north through Height of the Rockies Wilderness area and near Assiniboinne Mountain and Sunshine meadows/Ski area. You trek past Shadow Lake/Eygpt Lake area and on past Ball Mountain and out to Highway 93.

Nigel Creek to Jasper

This hike hooks up a few hikes in Jasper National Park. You start by hikiing in near the Columbia Icefields at Nigel Pass and travels up past Brasseau Lake over Poboktan and Maligne Passes and over the Skyline trail ending up near Jasper. If you catch the weather this is the most beautiful hikes in Jasper National Park.

Eygpt Lake Shadow Lake loop

This a fairly easy loop that can be coordinated with hut stays and scrambles and climbs of many small mountain in the area. We scrambled up sugarloaf, Pharoh and another peak in the area before backpacking over Whistling Pass and we stayed at the lovely Shadow lake Lodge.

White Goat Wilderness

This is a hardy hike that will take you over the highest pass on the Canadian Great Divide Trail. This is a largely unmarked trail and does require some routefinding skills. The Owen Creek trail into the alpine is one of the more rugged trails that we have ever encountered in our travels on the Canadian Great Divide Trail.
